FSCA Crypto Providers

Checking a crypto provider starts with the exact legal entity—not the logo alone. Crypto University’s current evidence layer records three South African entities from the FSCA authorised-CASP list dated 18 December 2024.

This is a point-in-time extract, not a complete live register. Open the current FSCA publication before relying on it.

How to run the check

1. Find the legal entity in the provider’s current terms, account agreement or regulatory disclosure.
2. Search the newest FSCA list using the complete entity name and FSP number.
3. Compare spelling, company suffix and licence category—not just the consumer brand.
4. Confirm that the entity is the one serving your South African account.
5. Save the source date and repeat the check before a material transaction.

How to interpret “not found”

“Not found in this checked dataset” does not mean “illegal” or “unauthorised.” A mismatch can arise because:

• the brand and legal entity have different names;
• a newer register exists;
• the service is provided by a different group entity;
• the provider or product sits outside the dataset’s scope; or
• the search term is incomplete.

Treat the result as a prompt to identify the entity and ask the FSCA or provider for clarification—not as an accusation.

What authorisation does not prove

An FSCA record does not guarantee investment returns, token quality, solvency, cybersecurity, liquidity or successful withdrawals. Separately review:

• custody and asset segregation claims;
• current fees and executable spread;
• withdrawal restrictions and support;
• product-specific risk and eligibility; and
• independent assurance evidence where available.
