What is the difference between a crypto brand and its licensed legal entity?
A brand is the name consumers recognize. MiCA authorization belongs to a specific registered company. Always confirm the entity named in your account terms.
Does a MiCA license apply across all EU countries?
A home-state authorization can be accompanied by cross-border notifications. A notification does not prove every platform product is available in every country.
Can an authorized exchange still fail?
Yes. Authorization does not guarantee solvency, cybersecurity, investment performance or recovery of customer losses.
Does MiCA protect my crypto deposits?
MiCA creates conduct, governance and disclosure requirements, but crypto-assets are not automatically covered like bank deposits.
Which regulator grants MiCA licenses?
The competent national authority in the provider’s home member state grants the authorization and supplies the record reflected by ESMA.
How often is the tracker updated?
The tracker checks the official register daily and preserves the last valid snapshot if a provider response is incomplete or malformed.
Sources, Methodology and Limitations
Regulatory status comes from the official ESMA MiCA register supplied by competent national authorities. Official records control status, dates, services and passport notifications; the separate editorial consumer layer only affects discovery, labels and suggestions. Invalid refreshes cannot replace the last valid snapshot.
